Amy literally skipped to Olga's desk that morning to tell her that the client had just signed a contract to outsource part of their work to the call centre.
The office hag looked up with a rare smile on her face. "Congratulations. Remember to send a letter to thank them and to confirm that you have received the signed contract."
Amy sighed. "It seems that I have to write a letter for every little thing."
"Business letters are not minor, Amy. A contract is a very important document, and you must confirm its receipt. Not only is this polite, but the contract number will also help both sides track if the version they have is up to date. After all, a contract sometimes goes through more than one revisions."
"I never thought of it like that."
"Well, you better start to, else somebody will have to clean up after you."
Amy shivered. Olga's glare as she pronounced the word 'clean up' looked more vicious than a pitbull's with a headache. She rushed back to her desk and typed out a short thank-you note.
