English tenses are used to show the different conditions of time. However, here you will only be tested for your knowledge on the simple present and past tense. [I am assuming that you already know this concept, so I will not explain it here.] Although a past tense is the same for both plural and singular verbs, it is different for present tense because a singular present tense needs an 's', but a plural one does not need it. The rule of thumb I use: if you can use the link verb 'is' for a subject, then the verb will need an 's', if you use 'am' or 'are' for the subject then you don't need to attach an 's' to the verb.
