In Worksheet 2 you learned that you can add the numerators (top number) of fractions directly if the denominators (bottom numbers) are the same. But what if the denominators are different, what do you do then? In that case, you must convert the fraction to the same denominators before you can add them. For example 1/2 of a cake that had been cut into two portions is the same as 2/4 of a cake that had been cut into four portions. Practise this idea with the questions below.
