Once upon a time, there was a Doctor of Philosophy whom the world deemed as a man of great intelligence. He philosophizes constantly; about spoons and their relationship to tables; about bees and how they affect the weather. Then one day he noted that flowers bloom during Spring. And he noted how happy everything and everyone seemed. Birds mated, animals in the zoo strutted their stripes and even the lethargic pandas woke up from their naps to copulate. The very air was filled with the perfume of blossoms mingled with musk. So he went out and wrote a book about how Spring affect flowers and how flowers affect animals.

Time shrivelled the sage and his work ended up in a corner under a layer of dust. One day he sold his home and moved to a quieter place in the country. A publisher who had bought the place found the book as he was burning a pile of papers in the backyard and promptly published it. Instant success: Everyone understood the effect of Spring. Wasn't that the time we fell in love, dear? Didn't I become pregnant and had to drop out of school? Ah yes, the whole world recognized love.
A group of scientists came together for coffee and cakes one hot Summer day, and as usual the topic of Spring was brought up at the table. One of them wondered if flowers could be used to stimulate endangered animals to breed all year round. Immediately everyone excused themselves, and there was a mad dash for the door.
Apple blossoms, lilacs, jasmines, lily of the valleys began to appear in the zoo cages of mountain gorillas and pandas. Nothing happened, except that pandas developed diarrhoea from eating too much jasmines. Maybe the flowers were wrong? Roses, hibiscus, tropical ixoras - still nothing. The dedicated men and women did not want to give up just yet. Anyway they should give it at least a year before they call it quits.
Sure enough, eight months later there were signs of success. Dong Dong began to take interest in Ling Ling and videos of Pompom mating with three female gorillas was posted in the internet. The world was ecstatic: The flowers worked.
