Adjectives are modifiers that describe nouns. Some common adjectives are 'pretty', 'happy', 'clever' and 'blue'. You can also use the past participle form of a verb as an adjective. For example, 'The boy was injured and taken to a hospital' can be rewritten as 'The injured boy was taken to a hospital'. In the first example, 'injured' is part of a predicate, but in the second it is an adjective that describes the subject boy.
